My girlfriends and I have committed to seeing more of each other this year. So have agreed to in turn organise one dinner a month, this month it was my turn. I picked Humble Grape in Fleet Street, Bookatable have a deal for 3 courses and free flowing Prosecco (for 90 mins) for £39.50ph.
It’s nice to get dressed up and go out for dinner without a child throwing food across the room!
My outfit was an array of brands;
– Body suit – Tall ASOS
– Leather Skirt – Missguided
– Shoes – Christian Louboutin
The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the staff were also very friendly. It has a classy modern decor with gorgeous lighting…
It’s an all rounder kind of place…after work drinks, family events, dates etc. The dress code is smart casual which I know is the worst type it’s like hello what the f**k do I wear! But to be honest it was very relaxed so anything would be fine..As mentioned before the staff were very friendly, and didn’t rush us to start our meal or Prosecco as a few of our party were late. When we all arrived, the waitress proudly started pouring our Prosecco stating that this was the best Prosecco out there as it was from Italy and made from grapes that had been aged for 100 days and that it was made using eco friendly methods.
She also announced that it was so good we wouldn’t have a hangover the next day. (Hmmm not sure about that love)But…I’ll give her credit, the Prosecco was lovely…it was soft on the palette, fresh and fruity without being dry or sharp!We ordered our food and I opted for;Duck Liver Pate, with creedy park, toast and picklesPoussin with an apple and celeriac remoulade Milk Chocolate Mousse with Caramel moelleux, Baileys and Hazelnuts
I am sad to say that I was disappointed in 2 out 3 of my meal.The duck liver pate was ok but not as I expected I was also not very impressed with the presentation…the Poussin lacked flavour and so I found myself asking for ketchup and salt! (Shock horror I know)The best part was the dessert…I ate mine and half of my friends as I was still hungry!!I could only assume that the food off the normal menu would be a lot better and that the Bookatable menu had been thrown together without tasting or thought.I’m such a foodie so I am gutted when I don’t enjoy the food when I dine out.The Prosecco probably saved the evening, regardless of the food it was still lovely to spend time with my girlies and have a mummy night off. A few of the girls headed off to a club but myself and my beautiful friend Natalie stayed for an extra hour having a real good catch up. She has a beautiful soul and she truly is close to my heart.
After almost falling asleep in my Uber and getting home I threw off my shoes, negotiated my lie in with my partner and fell asleep…I didn’t even take my make up off. My skin didn’t thank me this morning.
Let’s hope the next girls dinner gets a better review.Love JadeXxX
